Ryan Lawler Looks To Capture Gulf Coast Championship for KBM
Ryan Lawler will have a busy year of racing in the Super Late Model ranks and he’ll be doing it with one of the best teams in the nation.  Lawler will run all 10 races of the Gulf Coast Championship Series, five at Florida’s Five Flags Speedway and five at Mobile International Raceway in Alabama, all for Kyle Busch Motorsports.

“It’s an awesome deal to be able to run the whole season at those two tracks,” said Lawler.  “I had a blast down there at Pensacola and Mobile, they’re both fun racetracks.  We just have a bit of work to do when we go back.  We did finish in the top five both times, you can only stop getting better when you’re first and that’s our goal - to win races.”

Lawler, the 2007 PASS South Champion, will be looking for another title down on the Florida pan-handle.  After scoring a fourth at Five Flags and a second at Mobile, Lawler finds himself embroiled in a tight points battle early in the season.

“The competition is really good down there,” added Lawler.  “I think that is why so many people enjoy racing at Five Flags.  You know you’re running against the best drivers and the best cars.”

Lawler will have other opportunities this season to run for the NASCAR superstar Kyle Busch in the KBM #51 in events such as the CRA Super Series event at Winchester Speedway (IN) on Labor Day weekend.

“It’s really going to be cool to run at Winchester with Kyle’s car,” said Lawler.  “We were up there last week and we had some engine trouble.  We were going to have to pull the motor from the back-up car until the rains came.  So we got lucky on that, we’re looking forward to going back later in the year.”

Ryan Lawler’s 2009 schedule could grow with new events at any point this season.  His next scheduled event will be on Friday, May 22nd at the Five Flags Speedway (FL) for the second round of the Blizzard Series.  He will also be in action the following night Saturday, May 23rd at Mobile International Speedway (AL) for the second round of the Miller Lite Series.
