Ryan Lawler Going Truckin' Again at Martinsville
SS Green Light Racing has announced that Ryan Lawler will make his 7th start of the season in this weekends Kroger 200 at the historic half mile “paper clip” that is Martinsville Speedway. Ryan will take the wheel of the 08 Gunbroker.com Dodge and plans to improve on his season best finish of 17th at the Kentucky Speedway this past July.

The 19 year old Lawler is one of the Southeast’s most talented up and coming drivers. In his rookie season, Lawler earned two victories in the ASA Late Models as well as a huge victory in the PASS South competition at historic Hickory Motor Speedway.

This Saturdays Kroger 200 is race number 21 in the 25 race season that makes up the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The event will be broadcast Live on SpeedChannel beginning at 2:00 P.M. EST.

“I grew up ten minutes from the racetrack,” said Lawler.  “All my friends will be there; we got a bunch of tickets last time and gave them out to my friends and family.  I used to race Bandoleros and Legends cars at Texas, so it’s really cool to come home to race.”

TRG Motorsports has already produced a wining combination, as one of the organization’s trucks went to victory lane at Mansfield Motorsports Park earlier this year.  They have also scored a total of five top-10 finishes in the highly-competitive Truck Series.

“TRG is an awesome team to race for, especially since they have already won a race this season,” said Lawler.  “I got to meet a lot of people in the shop and everyone has been real nice.  I think this is going to be a good deal for us.”

The Texas Motor Speedway event will be just another chance for Lawler to gain valuable seat time on the large super-speedways in the upper levels of NASCAR.  As a distinguished short tracker in his brief career, winning the PASS South title as well as the prestigious Winchester 400 in Indiana last season, Lawler will not only hope to improve on his 18th-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year, he will hope to gain the experience necessary to prove he belongs in the top-tier series.

“You don’t even know how tough it has been to get used to this,” added Lawler.  “Just a few years ago I was racing 30-40 times a year.  This season I have made six starts in the Truck Series and a few Super Late Model Races on the side.  It makes you value every race so much more.”

The Chevy Silverado 350K at Texas Motor Speedway is scheduled for a 9pm ET green flag live on SPEED.
