While that isn’t the type of finish that the 2007 PASS South Series champion is used to, he is very satisfied with the result considering that it was his debut in one of NASCAR’s three biggest series.
“We’re pretty happy with it,” said Lawler. “We kind of struggled at the beginning of the race and lost a lap, but we got better and raced to get the lucky dog. We got it and got our lap back. Then we went back and forth with the handling of the truck. We never did find a happy medium, but kept the nose clean and came out of it with a top 20 finish.”
Now that Lawler has one Truck Series start under his belt, is he ready to race in the series again?
“Absolutely, I had a blast racing with those guys. I was kind of frustrating running in the back because I’m not used to that. But we’re going to work on it and get better for the next race. Hopefully, we’ll put together some good finishes.”
Lawler will get his next chance at doing that with the #07 Greenlight Racing Chevrolet in the April 26th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Kansas Speedway.
